The Asia Literacy Scholarship Fund is honoured to have as its Patron, Emeritus Professor Colin Mackerras AO. Professor Mackerras is a specialist on China. His main research interests are in Chinese culture, especially theatre, and minority nationalities. He has also written extensively on Australia-China relations and on Western images of China.

Carol Buchanan was the Principal of The Willows State School, Townsville. She has demonstrated a strong commitment to Asia Literacy over many years within her school and on Asia Literacy projects across the Townsville school district.

Russell Davies is a former D.Principal of MacGregor State High School, Brisbane, and currently the Principal Project Officer, Business Transformation, Department of Education and Training, Queensland. He is committed to innovation in education and the promotion of Asia Literacy in Australian schools.

Mr James Davis

James Davis is a graduate of Royal Military College, Duntroon and former Major in the Australian Army with full and part time service across 16 years. He has diverse interests, with experience in adult training, business consulting, health research and education. He has also worked in Shanghai for two years as a business development consultant to a group of Chinese manufacturers. James has a strong appreciation of the strategic and economic importance of Asia, and recognises the centrality of grass-roots social, cultural and educational links to ensure young Australians can fully participate in the future growth of Asia.

Riley is a final year law student at Griffith University. He has an interest in interational law and a strong appreciation for the direction of Australia's economic and cultural engagement with the Asian region.
